Hand bell ringers from four area churches will be in concert on Sunday, April 28 at 4 pm here at First Presbyterian Church, Winter Haven. The FPC/WH Chapel and Chancel Bell Choirs will perform “I Will Arise and Go To Jesus” played by 20 ringers. In addition, three hand bell choirs from other churches: Beymer Methodist, the Church of the Good Shepherd Episcopal and First Presbyterian Church Haines City will perform individually. The concert finale will feature the combined group of about 50 musicians on bells and chimes in a performance of “Guide Me Thou Great Jehovah” arranged by Michael Helman. The program is free and the public is invited.

Following the concert, a reception will be held in the church’s Memorial Garden. The reception will include the playing of FPC’s almost century-old Deagan Tower Chimes which were installed in the Bell Tower in 1926. The chimes have been silent for many years and have just recently been restored. This will be their first concert since the rehab was completed.
