The word used in the New Testament for "church" literally means "the gathering."
Each Lord's day for the past 117 years, disciples of Jesus Christ have come
together to worship God at First Presbyterian Church of Winter Haven.
We hold celebrations of public worship in our sanctuary every Sunday morning
throughout the year. From the Sunday after Labor Day until the Sunday immediately
preceding Memorial Day, worship is conducted at 8:30 AM and 11:00 AM. These services
both include the reading and preaching of God's Word, through the offering of
hymns, and prayers, and praise. The sacrament of the Lord's Supper is served at
all worship services one Sunday a month. Our Chancel Choir assists in worship
leadership at the 11:00 service. During the summer months, members of our
congregation join together for a single Sunday worship service, which begins
at 10:30 AM in the sanctuary. Special seasonal services are also conducted on Ash Wednesday,
Maundy Thursday, and Christmas Eve.
