The Old Testament
In the New Oxford Annotated Study Bible (New Revised Standard Version) that our church gives each year to our new High School graduates, the first major section is marked as “The Hebrew Scriptures Commonly Called the Old Testament.” In the three-page introduction to the Old Testament, the editors of this study Bible remind us that this sacred collection which was referred to often by Jesus and the writers of the New Testament, contains The Law, The Prophets, and the Writings. Over the course of the next couple of months, we will walk down the path of these thirty-nine books which connect us with our Hebrew roots in faith.
105 Your word is a lamp to my feet
and a light to my path.
Lead me, God, to the words which will speak to me from Your Word, today and every day. Amen.
