A REFLECTION ON PSALM 62

 For God alone my soul waits in silence;
from him comes my salvation.
He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress; I shall never be shaken.

If you’ve followed my musings over the years, you probably remember that I am a noisy person. I like TV weather right after I awake. I bounce between talk-radio, country, and classic rock music as I drive around. The person who shares my home and my heart sometimes asks me to refrain from chatter and comment. I like noise.

But, the psalmist says that our souls wait in silence for God alone. I may have done some of that, too. Enjoying the night sky or when the house is dark and quiet in the middle of the night can be an opportunity to focus in God alone, who is my Rock, my Salvation, and my Fortress.

Prayer

Wonderful God, help me to calm and quiet myself at some point this day, so that I might wait for the fulness of your presence in my life. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
