Growing up, my mom’s best friend, Chickie Lenes, would always send us pewter ornaments which are handcrafted by the Danforth Pewter Company in Vermont. Every year we would look forward to opening the small little box to see what ornament we had received. I have taken a picture of 3 of the ornaments; I probably have close to 20 ornaments which The Lenes’ family has given me throughout the years. Now that I am older, and I have my very own Christmas tree, these ornaments are even more special. They symbolize friendship, faith, family, and tradition. Most of my ornaments hanging on my tree are from the Lenes family. So, every year as I am decorating my tree, I think of them and how special each ornament is to me.

The Christmas season provides us a time of reflection, as we think about years past, years to come, and the blessings we have right now. Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas and blessed New Year.

Prayer

Lord of Heaven and Earth, we thank you for this glorious Christmas season, for a time of renewal and reflection. Oftentimes you speak to us, though we may not always be faithful listeners. Help us to listen with all of our hearts, to pause and reflect on your will for our lives. In Christ’s most precious name, Amen.
