Many of us have items in our homes that we use to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus. This year, our church has been given two incredible gifts which might help us tell the Christmas story: a Lenox Nativity Set (from the Tackett family) and Lenox Nativity Plates (from the Eelman family.) Our Advent and Christmas devotions this year will feature objects from these two collections. Much of the text of each day’s devotions will be from the Lenox company’s brochures which were included with the figurines.

We are beginning the season of Advent focusing on the Lenox Nativity Set. Jay and Joe Tackett came across this beautiful and quite extensive set as they were helping their mother, Barabara, move. The nativity set was purchased over time by Barbara Tackett and her daughter, Debbie Williams. Originally, Lenox created a 21-piece set. In subsequent years, more items were issued. Over the next few weeks, daily photos of these figurines will help us to tell the story of the birth of Jesus. (They are on display in the Manor Conference Room in the church office, if you’d like to meet them in person.)

Prayer

Wonderful God, as we begin our annual Advent journey to the stable and the manger, help us to pause in praise each step along the way. We thank You and praise You for the greatest gift of all at Christmas, our salvation through our Lord Jesus, in whose name we pray. Amen.
