I am thankful for kindness.

Galatians 5:22-25

22 By contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against such things. 24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also be guided by the Spirit

I have watched it acted out between two older people, married for more than half a century. I have witnessed it as an adult helps a child up after they have fallen, and as a child holds the door for an elder. I have seen it at a youth group meeting as one teenager walks across the room to include another teen who is standing all alone. Kindness. It has many faces, and it usually ends with smiles for all involved. And, not surprising, kindness is listed as a fruit of Spirit.

I am so thankful for the kindness I encounter in the world.

Prayer

Thank you God for all those who embody kindness is their daily lives. Let me behave today in such a way toward other people that I too am on that list. In Jesus’s name I pray. Amen.
