I am thankful that I yearn for God.

Isaiah 26:8-10

In the path of your judgments,
Lord, we wait for you;
your name and your renown
are the soul’s desire.
My soul yearns for you in the night,
my spirit within me earnestly seeks you.
For when your judgments are in the earth,
the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.
10 If favor is shown to the wicked,
they do not learn righteousness;
in the land of uprightness they deal perversely
and do not see the majesty of the Lord

I once heard it said that “There is a God-sized hole in all of us that only Jesus can fill.”

When I have made the time in my life to read God’s word regularly and talk to God in prayer as I have focused on Jesus, I have been contented and fulfilled. Isaiah wrote of his soul’s desire in waiting for the Lord. Is that having that hole filled?

I am thankful for that yearning for God that leads my spirit to seek God’s presence. And I am grateful that the God I seek is eager to be found.

Prayer

Lord, I wait for you; your name and your renown are my soul’s desire. I yearn for you in the night and as I start a new day. Let me feel your presence and find my purpose as I walk the path of discipleship following my Lord and Savior Jesus, in whose name I pray. Amen.
