I am thankful that I yearn for God.

Isaiah 26:8-10

⁸ In the path of your judgments,
O Lord, we wait for you;
your name and your renown
are the soul’s desire.
⁹ My soul yearns for you in the night,
my spirit within me earnestly seeks you.
For when your judgments are in the earth,
the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.
¹⁰ If favor is shown to the wicked,
they do not learn righteousness;
in the land of uprightness they deal perversely
and do not see the majesty of the Lord

I once heard it said that “There is a God-sized hole in all of us that only Jesus can fill.”

When I have made the time in my life to read God’s word regularly and talk to God in prayer as I have focused on Jesus, I have been contented and fulfilled. Isaiah wrote of his soul’s desire in waiting for the Lord. Is that having that hole filled?

I am thankful for that yearning for God that leads my spirit to seek God’s presence. And I am grateful that the God I seek is eager to be found.

Prayer

O Lord, I wait for you; your name and your renown are my soul’s desire. I yearn for you in the night and as I start a new day. Let me feel your presence and find my purpose as I walk the path of discipleship following my Lord and Savior Jesus, in whose name I pray. Amen.
