After the Baby’s birth, an angel warned the Magi not to return to Herod with news of the Child’s whereabouts. An angel also appeared to Joseph, warning him that the Child was in danger and that the family should flee to Egypt.
While the Bible does not specifically tell us that angels were present at the stable, it has been assumed through the centuries that these heavenly beings )who were given the honor of announcing Christ’s birth and of ministering to Him at various points of His life) shared the joy of the little group gathered around the manger. Religious art over the years has included angels in the Nativity scene.
Good news of grace and peace, your heavenly beings shared with Joseph and Mary, Shepherds and Magi, this great joy we too offer praise in prayer. We pray this season, that the light of your salvation in Emmanuel shine through us and we may welcome all to witness his coming. Amen.
