Before the Morning

Do you wonder why you have to,
Feel the things that hurt you,
If there’s a God who loves you,
Where is He now?

Maybe, there are things you can’t see
And all those things are happening
To bring a better ending
Some day, somehow, you’ll see, you’ll see

Would you dare, would you dare, to believe,
That you still have a reason to sing,
’cause the pain you’ve been feeling,
Can’t compare to the joy that’s coming

So hold on, you got to wait for the light
Press on, just fight the good fight
Because the pain you’ve been feeling,
It’s just the dark before the morning

My friend, you know how this all ends
And you know where you’re going,
You just don’t know how you get there
So just say a prayer.
And hold on, cause there’s good who love God,
Life is not a snapshot, it might take a little time,
But you’ll see the bigger picture

Once you feel the way of glory,
All your pain will fade to memory
Once you feel the way of glory,
All your pain will fade to memory
Memory, memory, yeah

The ringtone on my cell phone is the chorus to this song: Would you dare, would you dare, to believe, that you still have a reason to sing, ‘cause the pain you’ve been feeling, can’t compare to the joy that’s coming. From the moment this song came out in 2010, I have loved this song. It reminds me of HOPE. The season of Lent is all about HOPE, it is a time of reflection, darkness and light. On Easter morning when the ladies went to the tomb and saw that it was empty – there was JOY, there was LIGHT – and there is HOPE, the HOPE we crave every single day. In Romans 8:18 we read in the New King James Version,  For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

There will be days, maybe weeks, sometimes months or even years where we will have some sort of suffering. We are called to trust God with our eternity, but that means we also have to trust Him in our present. Joy will be arriving soon, we just have to look for it and be ready for it! His light always shines during our darkest days.

Light of the World, give us eyes and hearts to see Your JOY, LIGHT and LOVE even in our darkest days. Help us also to be that LIGHT for others who may not know you or who can’t seem to make it through the darkness. Guide, protect, comfort, and bless us with JOY Heavenly Father. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
