Looking Back Over Jesus’ Life

Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book. But these are written so that you may come to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that through believing you may have life in his name.
John 20:30-31

Our summer Sunday School Class just completed a look at all four gospels with a look at John’s gospel. And near the end of John, we find this passage. The writer of the fourth gospel spelled out his purpose in sharing the stories of Jesus — “that we might come to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and through believing we might have life in his name.”

That’s what I have experienced over the years as I have pondered the stories of my Lord and Savior. You may have too.

Which stories of Jesus have most captured your attention and fostered faith in you? Take a few minutes to call them to mind.

Which passages in the pages of your own Bible have the most marks beside them?

How many of them have to do with Jesus?

Prayer

God, thank You for letting me experience Jesus, the Living Word, as His life is detailed in the Word. Keep my heart and soul open as I read. Amen.
