One of the greatest personality traits that I always admire in others I meet throughout my journey of life is Gentleness. It doesn’t matter their gender, age, or size; if they are gentle I hold them in high respect and admiration.
In thinking about this, I feel that a person who can exhibit such high regard for others has to be living their life close to their Creator God. Taking a look into our Bible invites me to affirm why I believe as I do. In the Old Testament we can read from Proverbs 15:4, “A gentle tongue is a tree of life.” If we speak tenderly and lovingly, life will be long and loving.
Our Lord Jesus taught a wonderful lesson when he said, “Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble of heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light” (Mt. 11:28).
My heart cries, oh to be like thee, my Lord and Savior. This is a lesson that we all need to learn and we shall always be gentle in heart and at peace in spirit.
O Great Redeemer, Savior of humankind, may our hearts be gentle as we live in Your blessed Spirit. May we pray in a faithful and gentle spirit always. Amen.
