The richly bedecked camel offers interesting contrast to the humble donkey on which the Mother of Christ rode. The Three Kings, wealthy and wise almost beyond the comprehension of this poor family, rode such magnificent beasts on their star-guided journey to find the promised Child.

Prayer

God of near and far, as we think of the journey of royal travelers from the far east to the place where Your Son lay, we thank you for how you provided the means (in the form of a camel) for their way. And you always make the way for us to come and worship our King. Thank you for giving us the gift of our salvation, and the path to abundant life through Him. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
