Can You Imagine?

“but the angel said, ”Don’t be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead! Look, this is where they laid his body.” Mark 16:6

There are so many emotions going on here. First there is such grief. They are headed to the tomb to anoint Jesus’ body and pay respect to him. They had just lost Jesus to a brutal death. Now they are heading back to the tomb. I can only imagine the heartache they felt to arrive and discover that his body was gone.

Next, an angel tells them not to be alarmed because Jesus has risen from the dead. There are more strong emotions of confusion and hope. Could this be? I love that God sent an angel to tell them so they would know what happened to Jesus’ body. Straight away God wants them to know what has happened. This is the very moment that defines our faith as followers of Jesus Christ. In this moment we find hope. Jesus rose from the dead! The battle has been won. Amen and Amen! This is the Good News! Jesus Christ has risen. I can only imagine the overwhelming power of the moment these women experienced at the reality of what had happened

May we focus on this truth today and every day. Y’all, Jesus died and rose from the dead! If that isn’t good news I don’t know what is. He then sent the Holy Spirit so that we can experience a living relationship with him and so that we can have eternal life. I love the fact that just when I think I can’t know Jesus any more he shows up bigger than ever and I get to experience him all over again. That is what our God does for us. He gives us hope in the darkness. I heard the other day that a light can’t shine it‘s brightest UNLESS it is in darkness. Jesus shines brightest in our darkest. That is more good news to share.

Prayer

Gracious God, thank You for another day we get to use for Your glory. Help us today to share the good news that is Jesus Christ. We know we can do that in so many different ways. Help us, Lord, to hear You today as You speak truth to our hearts. Soften our hearts today that so we listen when You speak and are obedient to Your calling on our lives. In Jesus Name, Amen.
