Things remembered: Fragrances, the holiday greens, pinecones, delicious peppermint carnations and lovely roses. And oh… the SPARKLING GLITTER on everything (even on all who worked with it.) Snow too, even in Florida. The poinsettias everywhere were so beautiful.

But the very best were the customers coming in with their “Merry Christmas” greetings and thanking us for the happy and joyous feelings they would have when they came into the shop.

Near the door was a lovely palm tree and hay spread in a manger scene of Mary and Joseph and our Lord and Savior, Baby Jesus. We were often thanked for showing the true meaning of and why we celebrate Christmas.

We all find the Christmas season to be busy and hectic in many ways. It is also the time when we are the most generous with love and gifts…. smiling at those we meet in stores and on the streets, wishing so many a Merry Christmas. We found that delivering Christmas bouquets made the smiles we received very special.

I have to mention that the cookies and fudge that were so plentiful were the goodies that kept us going during the long hours that we worked.

Christmas in a flower shop is a blessed event, celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ in many beautiful ways.

Luke 2:1-7

In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. 2 (This was the first census that took place while[a] Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3 And everyone went to their own town to register.

So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.

Prayer

Creator God, we give You thanks and praise for talents to bring smiles to faces and joy to hearts. We thank You for holly and mistletoe, for fir and cedar, and spruce and pine, for poinsettias, for garlands, trees and wreaths, for arrangements and centerpieces. We give You thanks for the beauty of season. In Christ’s name, we pray. Amen.
