Peace I leave with you; my peace, I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27

And here is God, once again with the Good News offering us all a safety net of love and peace. I was a bit puzzled with ‘I do not give to you as the world gives’, and understand that to mean that the peace that is offered by God is a done deal, no strings attached, it is a given and not just a wish or a longing. We don’t have to make a deal with God. If we simply open our hearts and minds, it can be ours. I googled one site and found over 350 different languages expressing the word peace. In a world of conflict with complex issues it is not surprising to find that peace is expressed with so many different sounds.

Prayer

Dear Lord, in our world of conflict, both personal and global, please help us to be unafraid to accept you into our hearts. Help us know that you and you alone offer us inner peace and stillness in our busy lives. Please help us to share this Good News and to offer up our open hearts and understanding as an example of your love. Amen.
