In 1998, singer Bobby McFerrin topped the charts with a little number that said
“Don’t Worry, Be Happy.” The island-inspired tune made lots of people smile. I sang along from time to time, maybe you did to.
Here’s a little song I wrote
You might want to sing it note for note
Don’t worry, be happy
The writer of Proverbs gave the same advice many centuries earlier:
Anxiety weighs down the human heart,
but a good word cheers it up.
Proverbs 12:25
There we have it again – give up the anxiety and seek the smile. Different people give us different methods or advice on how to avoid anxiety and achieve happiness and good cheer. It may start with turning the trouble over to God in prayer.
God, lift my burdens today. Release the heaviness of my heart, and help me to find the peace and joy that you provide. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
