20 teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always [remaining with you perpetually—regardless of circumstance, and on every occasion], even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:20 (AMP)

Who is your best friend? Have you had your best friend since childhood or is it someone you met later on in life? Is this someone you see on a regular basis or do you live miles apart but once you’re together it seems like you haven’t been separated?

My best friend Carrie and I were inseparable. We met in college at UCF and when I got a job back in Winter Haven, she ended up moving here and working at Hope Presbyterian where I too was employed. We did everything together. If one was there, then the other was right there as well. Well, life brings changes and Carrie and I no longer even live in the same town. But we’re good at picking up right where we left off and thanks to technology, we can stay in communication.

Our Savior, Jesus wanted to make sure His disciples knew that He would always be with them. He promised that even though they may not see Him, He would be with them through the end of the age. He gives us that same promise. I love how it is written in the Amplified version – regardless of circumstance and on every occasion, He is with us.

Think about your life for a minute. Where can you go that God doesn’t go? Nowhere friends. How encouraging to know that no matter where we go, or what we do, God is there. What hope, comfort, and peace that can bring us – regardless of what our outward circumstances look like. He is there!

Prayer

Ever Present God – thank you for your never-ending presence with us. You oh Lord are with us through all that comes our way and in every situation we encounter. Even when it feels like we are all alone or we are surrounded by a thousand people, You are there. Thank you Lord! Amen.
