Psalm 24:1-2

The earth is the Lord’s and all that is in it, the world, and those who live in it, for he has founded it on the seas and established it on the rivers.

As some of you know, I’m a big fan of the phrase “be where your feet are.” It is a great reminder of the importance of presence and being present. It is easy to get caught up in worrying about the future, about things that might happen, or about the list that needs to get done. Likewise, we can be drawn to solely reminisce and focus on what was and long for days gone by, but we are called to recognize the gift of the present. God has showered blessings upon us and we are meant to celebrate each moment of our lives. So, my photos for this devotional series, “Experiencing God in Unexpected Places”, will all feature my feet somewhere that I have encountered and appreciated the blessings of God.

This image is of the creek at Montreat Conference Center. Montreat is a special place for many people. It is often described as a thin place where it is easier to discover and reflect on God’s handiwork. Throughout my life, it has been a place where I have experienced God’s presence in worship as well as the beauty of God’s creation. The mountains, trees, streams, and trails in this incredible spot all point to the awesome Creator. I am reminded that I am a part of this creation and called to love all as my God loves me. May this be a day where you can look for where God’s creative handiwork is evident around you.

Prayer

Creator God, thank You for setting in motion a such a beautiful world. Help me to pause today to take notice of Your presence. Strengthen me to share with others the ways that I have experienced Your love today and invite them to look for Your presence as well. Amen.
