In reflecting on the Proverbs, I have mentioned time after time that “the writer (or author) of Proverbs says ….”. We should also consider these biblical words as part of a conversation between God and us.

Today’s verse is one that I like to see in that light:

My child, if your heart is wise,
my heart too will be glad.
My soul will rejoice
when your lips speak what is right.
Proverbs 23:15-16

Jesus told us to call God Almighty “Abba” – which means “Daddy”. God the Creator is also our Perfect Parent. And as God’s child, my words and actions produce a response in God. When I choose wisely in my heart, God’s heart is gladdened! When my lips speak what is right, God’s very being rejoices!

I can choose to act, think, and speak today in a way that not only benefits me, but actually makes God happy too.

Prayer

Abba, Daddy, thank You for loving me as Your child. Help me show today how I have been made in Your image. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
