In 1982 I received my favorite Christmas ornament. It was a handmade gift from my daughter, Cheryl. She made this bluebird ornament using a pinecone, spray paint, and glitter.
Cheryl was in kindergarten at the time. The teacher said, she always had her students make birds as the children were leaving the nest of home and spreading their wings. Since that time the bluebird has always hung in the middle of the front side of the tree.

Matthew 6:26
Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?
Prayer
Creator God, we thank you for the birds of the air and for the lessons we can learn from them. We thank you that you care and provide for their needs and that because we are of greater value than they; we can trust you to provide for us. We thank you that at the appropriate time we “leave the nest” and spread our wings to soar to great heights. Like the birds, let us sing your praises daily. Amen.
