Go, and Baptize

Matthew 28:16-20

16 Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.

The baptismal font is in the sanctuary of most Presbyterian churches. As we join the church, we are marked with water. This sacred act reminds us of the cleansing of our lives as we humble ourselves before God as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Baptizing people is part of what we are called to do.

  • I wonder if you remember your own baptism.
  • If you were baptized as an infant, I wonder if someone has told you about the promises that were made over you.
  • I wonder if we show that we have been cleansed and claimed by God as we wander the path of discipleship in our daily lives.

Prayer

Thank You, God, for Your claim upon my life. Let me live now as one of Your redeemed children, as I seek to follow Jesus each day as my Lord and Savior. Amen.
