I Am With You

You all may recall from my previous devotions that I love Contemporary Christian music. Casting Crowns has a song called, Praise You In This Storm, which brings this Psalm to life through music.

I was sure by now
God You would have reached down
And wiped our tears away
Stepped in and saved the day
But once again, I say “Amen”, and it’s still raining

As the thunder rolls
I barely hear Your whisper through the rain
“I’m with you”
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away

[Chorus:]
And I’ll praise You in this storm
And I will lift my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am
And every tear I’ve cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm

I remember when
I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry to you
And you raised me up again
My strength is almost gone
How can I carry on
If I can’t find You

But as the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain
“I’m with you”
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away

[Chorus]

I lift my eyes unto the hills
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord
The Maker of Heaven and Earth

[Chorus x2]

Psalm 121 is full of such comfort, hope, and peace. It reminds us that through it all, whether we are walking down roads that might cause us to stumble, when we are faced with difficult times, or when we are wide awake and living our lives, the Lord is with us, always. I am sure we all get caught up in our day to day lives, we don’t stop and really think that through it all, through every moment of our lives – Our Lord is with us. He’s our constant companion, our comforter, our supporter, our encourager, and He will watch over our coming and going, now and forevermore.

These verses in Psalm 121 are there to encourage and uplift us. He is always with us – no matter where we go or what we do. If you have a chance this week, stop and listen to Praise You In This Storm and let the psalm that has been put to music truly touch your heart and your life.

Prayer

Help us to remember that through it all, You are with us Lord. Help us to turn to you always, during those exciting moments and during those times when we feel like we’re all alone and broken. We praise You Lord; in the storms of life and in the joys of life. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
