Like a muddied spring or a polluted fountain                        
are the righteous who give way before the wicked.
Proverbs 25:26

Have you ever come across a polluted fountain?  I saw one in Washington, DC where the water was filled with feathers and other things left behind by the ducks. Disgusting.

Have you ever played in a muddied spring? Of course not. We want to play in clean and clear water.

Like a beautiful fountain or a spring, righteous lives start out clean and pure water. Then they are tainted. The sewage and pollutants are allowed to permeate and penetrate.

Proverbs 25:26

We start out pretty pure most days. The right or righteous path can help us to stay that way. Or we can give way before the wicked. But it muddies the waters.

Prayer

Dear God, help me to begin this day with a clean slate. And help me to keep the waters of my life today fresh and pure as I follow the path as a disciple of Jesus, in whose name I pray.  Amen.
