Jesus Rights Our Wrongs

I am guilty
Ashamed of what I’ve done, what I’ve become
These hands are dirty
I dare not lift them up to the Holy one

You plead my cause, you right my wrongs
You break my chains, you overcome
You gave your life to give me mine
You say that I am free
How can it be, how can it be?

I’ve been hiding
Afraid I’ve let you down, inside I doubt
That you still love me
But in your eyes there’s only grace now

You plead my cause, you right my wrongs
You break my chains, you overcome
You gave your life to give me mine
You say that I am free
How can it be, how can it be?

Though I fall, you can make me new
From this death I will rise with you
Oh, the grace reaching out for me
How can it be, how can it be?

You plead my cause, you right my wrongs
You break my chains, you overcome
You gave your life to give me mine
You say that I am free
How can it be, how can it be? By Lauren Daigle

This is a beautiful song and one that speaks to my heart. How often have we felt ashamed of what we have done or how we have felt towards another person? So ashamed, in fact, that we feel unworthy of taking it to God. In our humanity we forget about his grace. His grace covers us and is sufficient for us. 2 Corinthians 12:9 says,” My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Oh, thank goodness! Thank you, Jesus, that in my weakness your power is made perfect. Romans 3: 23-24 tells us that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. “ These verses assure us that it isn’t what we do, but what Jesus does that matters. This song reminds us that He breaks our chains, rights our wrongs and gave His life to give us ours.

When this song comes on I stop everything and just enjoy the message is brings. If I am having a particularly guilt ridden day it is a reminder that Jesus loves me and all of me. This is a simple fact, but it is one I still have difficulty accepting. Let’s pray together this week that though we may fall Christ makes us new.

Prayer

Dear Gracious God, thank you for giving us grace. It is a beautiful gift. Help us to remember that it is indeed your gift to us. Thank you that in our weakness your power is made perfect. In Your Name, Amen.
