In this time of desperation
When all we know is doubt and fear
There is only one foundation
We believe, we believe
In this broken generation
When all is dark, You help us see
There is only one salvation
We believe, we believe

We believe in God the Father
We believe in Jesus Christ
We believe in the Holy Spirit
And He’s given us new life
We believe in the crucifixion
We believe that He conquered death
We believe in the resurrection
And He’s comin’ back again, we believe

So let our faith be more than anthems
Greater than the songs we sing
And in our weakness and temptations
We believe, we believe!

We believe in God the Father!
We believe in Jesus Christ!
We believe in the Holy Spirit!
And He’s given us new life!
We believe in the crucifixion!
We believe that He conquered death!
We believe in the resurrection!
And He’s comin’ back again!

Let the lost be found and the dead be raised!
In the here and now, let love invade!
Let the church live loud our God we’ll say
We believe, we believe!
And the gates of hell will not prevail!
For the power of God, has torn the veil!
Now we know Your love will never fail!
We believe, we believe!

“We Believe” by Newsboys

My family and friends know that I cry at the drop of a hat. Literally, I cry about everything. It is my go to emotion. It is how I express every emotion that I feel. I know it is bizarre, trust me. So, it was no surprise that the first twenty times I heard this song I burst into tears. Not from sadness, but from sheer joy. My daughter asked me one day when this song was on why I was crying (she thinks I am crazy too). I told her that the Holy Spirit is just too much for this body and He seeps out in my tears. While I cry about a lot of things, there is nothing on this earth that gets me going more than the Holy Spirit. This song makes me literally feel the Spirit inside of me. He can’t be contained. The last part of the song really gets cranked up. When this part of the song is on I turn it up full blast and sing from the roof tops. It isn’t pretty. It is in those moments I am slightly, if not entirely, jealous of those of you whose gift is the gift of song for mine most definitely is not! I am more of a sing in the shower kind of girl and only out of earshot of others. Oh, how I wish sometimes God blessed me with a beautiful voice. A song like this is just like a prayer for me. Is there any better way to praise our Father than through song? It stirs my soul and makes me, in that moment, completely one with God. For a millisecond I catch a glimpse of what I know heaven will be like. All the beauty and joy in the world all wrapped up in one moment except we get to praise God all day long. Imagine that uncontainable joy for all eternity. We aren’t there yet, but we have the promise of heaven. While we are here, praise God as loudly as you can as often as you can. The Holy Spirit is God’s gift to us. Let’s enjoy Him in all His glory.

So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving spirit had freed you from the power of sin that leads to death. “Romans 8:1-2

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for songs that stir our soul and that bring us ever closer to a relationship with You. Thank You for the Holy Spirit that lives in our hearts. We love You. In Your Precious Name, Amen
