It’s my prayer that during our study of Genesis, we have been able to see how loving and faithful God has been to His creation, and fortunately still is! This outstanding biblical book has given God all the glory “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” (Gen. 1.1) God made everything, the flowers and the trees, the insects and the bees. God’s love put humankind upon the planet earth to tend the gardens and to care for all things. God also gave the wondrous gift of freewill. God wants our love but only as we are willing to love with no strings involved!
Genesis sadly reports this phase of human life on earth ends as God grows weary of man’s continuing disobedience and refusing to worship God, the One who created all things. This behavior saddens God, perhaps as a father today, having to spank his young son for disobedience saying, “this is going to hurt me a lot more than you.” Through God’s faithful servant Noah came another faithful son, Abram. Genesis tells us Abram had his name changed to Abraham by God. This was part of God’s plan for the people of earth, remaking a life giving covenant, that Abraham and his family will be forever blest.
It is good to read of the good fortune that finally came to Joseph. Joseph, who was God’s son though-out very difficult times, has finally been blest by those who were not of his faith, but were Egyptian. God never lost sight of His servant Joseph and Joseph never refused to always worship and honor his God. So in the long run, of living through the events and challenges of life, Joseph because of his faith in God, is able to bring the blessings of life so needed in the world and all the people! We are so moved as it is most fitting for God’s people, even for you and me in our day, to be so gracious and loyal in the happenings of world. As we can then be sure that God will forever bless us also.
Heavenly Father, as we read the Book of Genesis, we can see Your eternal love upon all who never lose faith, but are forever faithful, how grateful we are to live in Your love and eternal Grace. In Your Son’s Holy Name Jesus we pray. Amen.
