Matthew 18:20

“For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them.”

For those who may not know, I have enjoyed in various capacities, being able to participate in my favorite sport, soccer. This summer, I was able to visit a community in-door soccer program at St. John’s United Methodist and share a devotion. We have multiple families of our congregation whose children play on these teams at St. Johns. We have also had church families as a part of other soccer programs that in the past I have been able to plug into as a coach. It has been fun and rewarding to see our families out in the community and share our church with new families. For this devotion, I focused on this small excerpt from in the Gospel of Matthew where Jesus as affirms the need to be in ministry together. This important lesson applies to our life in the church and of course, the fun of playing soccer as a team. I continue to pray that those kiddos I got to pray with for one day can join with their family -church families.

Prayer

Jesus, we are thankful that you are with us. Help us be fair and kind in our fun with friends and our family. May we remember that you love us, and we are never alone, in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
