Does ‘living in God is peace’ make any sense to you at this moment of your life? I say life because for most of us living in this day, hundreds of years from when Jesus walked on earth, we have directed our continued search for The Truth! Of course spelled with caps signifies The Word as recorded by Holy Scripture. If you can say yes, then you are certainly a blest disciple of our Lord Jesus living in God’s Spirit. You have prayerfully and faithfully studied Christ as he lived on earth. The rewards for such resolve are that you have humbly invited Jesus’ Spirit to live in you. I can say this because it is what the writer of John has promised for each of us through-out all eternity.

With this as an introduction, let us now look closely into our verse; “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you.” Jesus was about to be taken back up into the heavenly kingdom, away from his disciples, and also from all earthly creation. Under these conditions, what better gift could he possibly give, but His Peace! Giving peace to those of us who may be distressed will show us the way to eternal Peace. Living in Christ’s peace is actually living in God’s Peace.

Before another minute passes take a moment to think deeply upon what it is Christ is giving; Jesus is giving you and me peace. Not peace like the world can give but Christ’s peace, Peace with God! New Testament scripture reveals that before Christ left the world; he gave for all of us, his peace which will live with us forever. This wondrous peace is not transient, it is internal! This peace has the power to carry each one of us throughout this world and into the next.

Prayer

Holy God, the giver of every good and perfect gift, we cannot thank You enough for the Peace which keeps us daily in Your loving care and frees us from all selfish desires In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
