The week after I preached on “life verses”, a church member arrived before the service eager to tell me about two scripture verses that had directed her Christian walk. The first one came with a story from her childhood. She had learned a verse (a rather long verse at that) and her mastering the memorization of that verse was coupled with a light shining in such a way that she saw Jesus clearly in a painting.
This spiritual moment continues to inspire her faith to this day. And so does this life verse:
14 “You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. 15 No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.
As we are looking for marching orders for life, how about letting our light shine?
Wonderful God, as I come to see Jesus more clearly as my Savior and my Lord, let me be eager to let my light shone so that others will give you the glory. Amen.
