Daily Devotion Focusing on the Missions Supported by First Pres

Acts 1:6-8

So when they had come together, they asked Jesus, “Lord, is this the time when you will restore the kingdom to Israel?” He replied, “It is not for you to know the times or periods that the Father has set by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Many of us grew up in the church hearing talk of mission and missionaries. Fred Foy Strang grew up in this church and has dedicated his life and ministry to mission work in Africa among the Maasai tribesmen. Fred’s wife, Cecily, has also devoted her life to sharing God’s love, healing, and wholeness with God’s children here in the states, and in Kenya and Tanzania.

For decades, Rev. Dr. Fred Foy Strang (Doctor of Ministry and PhD. in World Missions) and Dr. Cecily Strang (Doctorate in Nursing) lived in Kenya, training pastors and health care workers to meet spiritual and physical needs among the marginalized in the African society. Recently, their physical residence has become Florida, but their hearts and ministries continue to touch lives for Christ on the African continent.

Our church’s Global Mission Committee lifts up prayers and sends benevolence dollars in support of this African mission, as we all hope to be Christ’s witnesses “to the ends of the earth.”

Prayer

God, strengthen those who share your love in word and deed with people whom we may never meet all around the world. Help us to honor Christ as we witness where we are, and to the ends of the earth. Amen.
