Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

For it was you who formed my inward parts; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; that I know very well.

Psalm 139:13-14

On the fourth Monday of every month, a dedicated group of volunteers, artists, and crafters gather to knit and crochet prayer shawls. These prayer shawls are given to people who are going through some kind of difficult situation in their lives. Prayers are offered for the recipient as the wrap is created with a final blessing before the shawls are distributed. When a person wraps the shawl around themselves, it is hoped that they will feel comforted, loved, and encouraged knowing that others are praying for them.

We know that we can bring all things to God in prayer and that our Creator who is loving and compassionate will hear our joys and concerns. This ministry is a testament to the importance of praying for others, even strangers.

Ways you can connect: come share your gifts in knitting or crocheting, donate financial gifts for the purchase of yarn and supplies, let the Congregational Care Committee know of potential recipients of a prayer shawl, and pray for this ministry.

Prayer

Creator of all, we give You thanks for the gift of being able to craft something with our hands. We thank You for seeking a relationship with each one of us and that we can bring anything to You in prayer. Bless this ministry that it may continue to be a blessing to others who are in need of Your presence. Amen.
