My Christmas Tree Topper

Living alone after my children were grown and living in their own homes, I stopped decorating a Christmas tree at my house particularly because Christmas day is celebrated at my youngest daughter’s. Then one year I bought a small artificial tree because my oldest grandson insisted that I needed one.

The decorations I use are ones that are mainly homemade by my children when they were younger, constructed from popsicle sticks, yarn, colored paper and other craft supplies. The topper is an angel made of cardboard, netting and a plastic doll’s head. There are no lights on my tree. Each year placing each of these ornaments is a trip down memory lane for me. The same is true of the remembrance of the story of our Savior’s birth, which never grows old.

Prayer

Gracious God, priceless is the gift of Your Son to the world. We thank You for ornaments that have become more precious over the years. Help us always to treasure the memories! In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
