She opens her hand to the poor,
and reaches out her hands to the needy.
In looking at a virtuous woman, the writer of Proverbs has painted a comprehensive portrait:
Wife (Proverbs 31:10-12),
Homemaker (Proverbs 31:13-16),
Businesswoman (Proverbs 31:16-19),
and now Philanthropist (Proverbs 31:20).
Part of being a faithful woman (or person) is the generous care of others. “Opening our hands to the poor and the needy” is a blessed behavior.
Wonderful God, bless all those generous people who know that opening our hands (and wallets) to the poor and needy is part of waling the path of discipleship. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
