Christmas can be a rather busy day for a minister’s family. Over the years, we have celebrated the day with children at various ages. We have often joined with others preparing and serving a meal at our church’s Soup Kitchen. We have seen Christmas day come on every day of the week. And, over the years, our family has found time on Christmas day to gather and enjoy the same meal at our own table.

The recipe is called Chicken in Cream. It goes well with a table set with favorite seasonal china and flatware. And the main course can be prepared a day in advance and then popped into the oven to work with any day’s schedule.

This recipe was included back in 186 in the cookbook created at First Pres to celebrate the church’s centennial.

Recipe

1 jar dried beef slices
1 can golden mushroom soup
4 boned chicken breasts
1 8 oz carton sour cream
Bacon
1/4 cup water

Line baking dish with dried beef. Wrap each breast with bacon. Pour mushroom soup, sour cream and water mixture over chicken. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour, covered, and then uncover for 20 minutes more.

Prayer

Holy Father, when Your Son Jesus was born, a star guided wise men but when Jesus returns, the sun, moon, and stars will shine calling us to acknowledge our salvation is near. Amen
