“Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:20
I know every week I tell you all that scripture brings me such peace and reassurance, but I have no other words to describe how I feel when I read these words. This reminds me that even though speaking God’s truth may offend or even cause a great deal of strife that He is always with me. We are not carrying out His commands on our own strength. It is through Christ’s strength that we do this. Jesus is with us ALWAYS. I know that if I had to endure life’s valleys alone I couldn’t do it. I absolutely could not do it. I would throw in the towel, stick a fork in me I am done. Thankfully, and with great joy and relief, we have Jesus right beside us every step of the way. So, when God calls me to something that is way outside of my wheel house, instead of being overwhelmed with doubt and feelings of inadequacy (which I usually jump to), I can allow God’s words to wash over me and reassure me that He is with me always. During the times that God calls me to things I could not do on my own, it is then that He can shine brightest. I have the honor of saying I did not do that on my own; it was all God. To God be the glory. I can draw on His strength not my own. If He calls me to it He will see me through it, no matter the outcome.
Gracious God, thank You for Your constant presence in our lives. Thank You for the assurance that You are with us on this journey while we take Your Word to the ends of the earth. Help us to remember it is not our strength but Yours we are to rely on. We know that You often call us to things outside of our wheel house that we may feel unprepared for, but the good news is that You are with us. Thank You for that good news. We love You Lord, and pray every day that we honor You in all that we say and all that we do. In Jesus Name, Amen.
