Daniel 9:4

I prayed to the Lord, my God and made confession, saying, ‘Ah, Lord, great and awesome God, keeping covenant and steadfast love with those who love you and keep your commandments.

This text is part of Daniel’s prayer. According to the commentator for this hymn’s inclusion in Glory to God; he writes: “This is a contemporary worship song that first gained recognition on Christian radio and later became a popular congregational song. “Awesome’ here is not a trivial expression but carries the meaning of ‘awe-inspiring’ and is based on scripture, e.g. Daniel 9:4.

Our God is an awesome God who reigns from heaven above with wisdom, power and love, our God is an awesome God!
Do you remember holding a newborn infant and examining the tiny child’s fingers and toes with their unique markings? God made that child.
Feel the refreshing breezes and watch their effects on trees with new green leaves. God made the wind and the trees.
Before cruises were cancelled many had found enjoyment on such vacations and from the decks looked at endless sea. God made the oceans.

Pause to look at a rose, feels its velvet-like petals and inhale its sweet fragrance. God made the roses. Study the brilliant colored sunsets and then survey the moon and stars. God made all of these celestial lights!

Prayer/Song

Our God is an awesome God who reigns from heaven above with wisdom, power and love, our God is an awesome God! 

And all God’s people said, “Amen!
