The ox is important to the Christmas story because it was in his stable home that the Baby Jesus was born… and it was in this animal’s manger, or feeding trough, that the wondering shepherds found the Child of whom the angels sang.
Prayer
God of great grace, we cannot even appreciate the depth of Your humility in coming to be with us. You took on human flesh as the Babe of Bethlehem, and then by-passed a baby’s bed to be cradled in the feeding trough of a lowly beast. Your loving approach to us is beyond comprehension. But we feel that love at Christmas. Let us be drawn to You anew this season through our Lord and Savior, Jesus, in whose name pray. Amen.
