Luke 8:5-8

5“A sower went out to sow his seed; and as he sowed, some fell on the path and was trampled on, and the birds of the air ate it up. 6Some fell on the rock; and as it grew up, it withered for lack of moisture. 7Some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew with it and choked it. 8Some fell into good soil, and when it grew, it produced a hundredfold.” As he said this, he called out, “Let anyone with ears to hear listen!”

  • I wonder what is the power of parables that Jesus told to the people listening?
  • What kind of lessons do you learn hearing Jesus’ parables?
  • How important is it to think about how the seeds felt, that fell on the path? The rocks? The thorns?
  • I wonder how one knows they’ve been planted in good soil?

Prayer

Gracious Lord, Your words of scripture and teaching us of faith is important to how we live today. May we hear with open ears and hearts these words of Jesus. It is in His name we pray, Amen.
