John 13:34-35

I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.

Anne Lamott is an author of several novels and works of non-fiction. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, her non-fiction works are largely autobiographical, with strong doses of self-deprecating humor and covering such subjects as alcoholism, single motherhood, and Christianity.

You can either practice being right or practice being kind.

Prayer

Loving God, You have created and called us to be in relationship with You and with one another. Empower us to focus more on loving others and less on being right or being the best. Remind us that we are gifted by You to love and serve others. Strengthen us to follow the model of Jesus in caring for others in such a way that we sometimes even put the needs of others before our own. Thank You for calling us to be part of Your Kingdom-building everyday. Amen.
