Matthew 5:43

43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may be children of your Father in heaven; for he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the righteous and on the unrighteous.

Most of us know Charles M. Schulz (November 26, 1922 – February 12, 2000) an American cartoonist and creator of the comic strip Peanuts.

Over the years, this cartoonist’s faith was evident in many of his strips. As a Christian, I have patiently waited each year to hear Linus, Schulz’s little theologian, talk about what Christmas is all about as he recited (in King James English) the biblical story of the shepherds as they heard of the birth of Jesus in A Charlie Brown Christmas.

My faith has been touched and tickled by the characters in Peanuts, BC (thanks to Johnny Hart), and other wonderful comic strips.

Prayer

God of tears and laughter and all human emotions, thank You for sneaking faith into many of our life events. Help me to keep a smile on my face as I praise You as my Creator, and follow Jesus daily as my Lord and Savior. Amen.
