Haggai 2:6-9

6 For thus says the Lord of hosts: Once again, in a little while, I will shake the heavens and the earth and the sea and the dry land; 7 and I will shake all the nations, so that the treasure of all nations shall come, and I will fill this house with splendor, says the Lord of hosts. 8 The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, says the Lord of hosts. 9 The latter splendor of this house shall be greater than the former, says the Lord of hosts; and in this place I will give prosperity, says the Lord of hosts.

This nativity is the most recent addition to our collection. It is small and simple. Like some ornate nativity sets with angels, animals, shepherds, wise men, and the holy family, our advent season can become cluttered with all the trimmings. This nativity scene reminds me that simplicity is sometimes the best way to approach advent and Christmas. What really matters is the birth of Jesus and the coming of Christ into our world over and over again.

Prayer

Loving God, it is easy to get caught up in the powers of our world and get distracted by things that are not of You. We celebrate that You are the most powerful. Thank You for loving us. Help us to focus on You and Your plan for our lives. Amen.
