This nativity set stays out all year in my office. Teresa, Thomas, and Stewart bought it for me as a Christmas present when we were all still at home together. The figures are simple, durable, and beautiful. I walk past this set every workday, and when I pause to reflect, I think of the grace that comes from a loving family, and the grace and truth that has come into my life and yours through our living Lord Jesus.

John 1:14-18

14 And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father’s only son,[a] full of grace and truth. 15 (John testified to him and cried out, “This was he of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me ranks ahead of me because he was before me.’”) 16 From his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. 17 The law indeed was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God. It is God the only Son,[b] who is close to the Father’s heart,[c] who has made him known.

Prayer

God, You have given me so many wonderful gifts. I thank You for family, faith, and the foundation of knowing Your love in so many ways. Help me to show grace as I live as a follower of my Lord Jesus, in whose name I pray. Amen.
