This nativity set stays out all year in my office. Teresa, Thomas, and Stewart bought it for me as a Christmas present when we were all still at home together. The figures are simple, durable, and beautiful. I walk past this set every workday, and when I pause to reflect, I think of the grace that comes from a loving family, and the grace and truth that has come into my life and yours through our living Lord Jesus.

John 1:14-18

¹⁴ And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father’s only son,^[a] full of grace and truth. ¹⁵ (John testified to him and cried out, “This was he of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me ranks ahead of me because he was before me.’”) ¹⁶ From his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. ¹⁷ The law indeed was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. ¹⁸ No one has ever seen God. It is God the only Son,^[b] who is close to the Father’s heart,^[c] who has made him known.

God, You have given me so many wonderful gifts. I thank You for family, faith, and the foundation of knowing Your love in so many ways. Help me to show grace as I live as a follower of my Lord Jesus, in whose name I pray. Amen.
