Proverbs 18:1-2
The one who lives alone is self-indulgent,
showing contempt for all who have sound judgment.
2A fool takes no pleasure in understanding,
but only in expressing personal opinion.
A fascinating note from a commentary regarding this Proverb is around the phrase, ‘lives alone.’ As in Hebrew it speaks to more generally to a way of life when one lives in isolation. Then it shares this contemporary German proverb that translates to say, “one person is no person at all.” This wisdom is powerful to me, as I remember the call to be a part of the community, the body of Christ, is how Christ calls us as his disciples.
Prayer
Bread of Life, as you call us around your table of life, we are reminded how we are eternally fed and serve one another. May we remember the strength of the body, together in service and worship of you, Amen.
