JOYFUL NOISE

¹ Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth.
²     Serve the Lord with gladness;
come into his presence with singing.

³ Know that the Lord is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people and the sheep of his pasture.

⁴ Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise.
Give thanks to him; bless his name.

⁵ For the Lord is good;
his steadfast love endures forever
and his faithfulness to all generations.

Out of the 150 different psalms in the Bible, this one is probably in the “top ten.” It is used as a Call to Worship. It rings of God’s steadfast love and faithfulness. It invites us to sing in God’s presence (and some people are very good at honoring that request.) And it implores all of us, as the sheep of God’s pasture to enter God’s gates making a joyful noise (and those who aren’t known for their perfect singing can at least do that!)

And what’s the reason for our joyful notes of praise?

Prayer

O Lord my God, hear my joyful words of praise this day, as I thank you for your wonderful love.  In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
