Happy are those
who do not follow the advice of the wicked,
or take the path that sinners tread,
or sit in the seat of scoffers;
but their delight is in the law of the Lord,
and on his law they meditate day and night.
They are like trees
planted by streams of water,
which yield their fruit in its season,
and their leaves do not wither.
In all that they do, they prosper.

Psalm 1:1-3

Happy are those who meditate on God’s Law every day. They are like trees planted by streams of water which yield fruit and prosper.

When a tree is planted by the stream, it gets watered every day. And it grows and blooms and thrives. When we place ourselves close to the source of life by reading God’s Word each day, we blossom.

Our Year with the Bible Study plan plants us in the Word of God daily. The plan that we are engaging in this year as a church promises that by reading about 20 minutes each day (3-4 chapters chosen from both the Old Testament and the New Testament) we can all read ALL of God’s Word through in a year. We’ll come across Psalm 1, and lots more, as we are sustained and nourished by the Word of God in our daily 20 minutes of reading.

Prayer

Your Word is the water that we need in order to yield good fruit in our lives. Help us to take the time each day to poise ourselves for growth in faith and life. Amen.
