Luke 1:39-58
Mary was going to have a son. And her cousin Elizabeth was going to have a son. But neither of them knew the other’s news, until they saw each other in Mary’s visit.
It was a time for smiles and hugs and songs. And Mary’s song was full of joy.
The editors of the Spark Story Bible give us this crucial part of the biblical story surrounding the birth of Jesus. Children and adults alike need to know about Elizabeth (and her baby John). We need to see people of faith celebrating life events with one another. We need to know how to share our joy.
After telling the story, the editors ask this question:
“When you have exciting news to share, how do you tell your friends and family”
Do we know any good news about what God has done for us in Jesus Christ? How do we tell our family and friends?
God, give me a song to sing or the words to speak so that I can tell those whom I love about what You have done for me, claiming me as Your child, through the work of Jesus, my Lord and Savior. Amen.
