The biblical book called Deuteronomy contains a final sermon from the leader Moses to the children of Israel. In this book and this address, Moses recounts the mighty acts of God that have brought the people to this place in their journey of faith.

Early on in Deuteronomy we find this statement:

Deuteronomy 3:24

²⁴ “O Lord God, you have only begun to show your servant your greatness and your might; what god in heaven or on earth can perform deeds and mighty acts like yours!

As we stop in our own lives, and consider all that God has done for each of us (making us, sustaining us, saving us) we too might echo this verse or some verses from the hymn “How Great Thou Art.”

O Lord, my God When I in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made
I see the stars I hear the rolling thunder
Thy power throughout the universe displayed

Then sings my soul My Savior God to Thee
How great Thou art, How great Thou art
Then sings my soul My Savior God to Thee
How great Thou art, How great Thou art

My soul does sing at the great and mighty deeds of our God.

Prayer

God, help me to spend some time today considering all that you have done for me. And help me spend some time praising and thanking you through my Lord and Savior Jesus, in whose name I pray. Amen.
