Spending Your Day

All day long the wicked covet,
but the righteous give and do not hold back.
Proverbs 21:26

How do you like to spend your day? Do you like to fill it with a variety of activities, and maybe an assortment of people?

According to the writer of Proverbs, the wicked just sit around covet. (It seems that they obsess on breaking the tenth commandment and spend all day doing it.)

You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or male or female clave, or ox, or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.
Exodus 20:17 ………

The wicked hoard for the sake of hoarding. The wicked fill their days in a sad and wasteful way. The wicked envy and loath others who have the things they want. While the righteous give and share generously.

The righteous value things for how they can benefit those who possess and others.

And therein they find righteousness.

Maybe I’ll try to spend part of my day today giving someone something.

Prayer

Dear God, make me thankful for what you have given me, and help me to experience the blessing of sharing some of it with someone else. Amen.
