Shirley Turner was captivated by the beauty and simplicity of this nativity set she found while shopping at Rainbow Wicker and Silks eight to ten years ago.

The Willow Tree nativity set is made of resin and the pieces are made in China. The figures show no facial features. The colors are muted and there is an innocent quality about the nativity. The stars rather than being suspended above the stable are held by some of the characters. Shirley bought the basic set and over the years has added to the collection.

She displays the set on a table in the entrance hall of her home. More recently she has strung crystal miniature lights around the figures that add to its attractiveness.

Scripture: Matthew 2:1-2

Thought for the Day: The magi said, “For we saw his star in the east, and we have come to worship him.” Jesus told His disciples, “You are the light of the world.” Perhaps in our lives we too are to be “star bearers” pointing others to Christ and as lights, shining His love into the world.

Prayer: O God, who made “the star of wonder, the star of night, the star with royal beauty bright,” continue to lead us throughout 2016. Never let us forget what Jesus has told us: “You are the light of the world.” In His name, we pray. Amen.
